Departing

When departing the Bahamas, a Departure Tax is levied. This tax is charged depending on your mode of transport when leaving.

By Cruise ship$18.00
By Air$29.00
By Sea$20.00

*In most instances if by commercial means, taxes would be charged to carrier (included in priced quoted).

Air Departures to the United States of America must go through United States Customs pre-clearance if traveling from New Providence and Grand Bahama.

Each person or responsible family member travelling is required to declare if they are travelling with cash or negotiable instruments, or precious metals or precious stones, of a value equivalent to BS $10,000.00.  Penalties for non-compliance can include forfeiture of the cash, plus up to a $2,000 fine on top of that. The purpose is to combat money laundering, tax evasion, and for the Bahamas to comply with the USA’s Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) treaty.
